Coming from a Mixed Martial Arts back ground and as a retired Women’s World International Fighting Championships Champion, I recognise the benefits CrossFit provides to both competitive athletes as well as individuals from all backgrounds and fitness levels looking to improve overall health and mental toughness. I have always been active and I hold a deep passion for fitness.

My exposure to high intensity, functional fitness began with my first ever attempt at a fire department physical aptitude test where I fell in love with deadlifts. Since then I have completed the Los Angeles Fire department’s rigorous hiring process with the help of Valley CrossFit in Van Nuys, CA before relocating to Melbourne.

My goal is to unlock your inner strengths and to motivate each individual in a way that excites them to perform at their highest level. I will challenge you in ways that will push you out of your comfort zone enough to elicit positive changes and a sense of accomplishment.

Devoted to CrossFit since 2008, I am convinced of not only the physical adaptations, but also the mental and emotional benefits that CrossFit produces. After spending ten years in the health and fitness industry both as a trainer and massage therapist, I have decided to continue my career as a CrossFit coach.

Having run my own successful personal training business for the last decade, and with an extensive background in the fields of health, exercise prescription and personal development, health and well being have always been a major part of my life.  I have exercised regularly ever since I can remember and have participated in various competitive sports including netball, track and field, and more recently long distance running.

After training for and completing my first full Marathon, I was ‘over’ running and felt I needed to try something new.  I had heard of CrossFit and decided to give it a go. I immediately saw the many benefits that CrossFit has to offer.  I love the fact that the CrossFit model is inclusive of the broader population, not just elite athletes.  I also believe that it extends and overlaps in a positive and invaluable way into so many other areas of an individual’s life, and for this reason I decided to add to my professional qualifications become qualified as a CrossFit Coach.

Being an experienced trainer, educator, competitive athlete, business owner, and a mum in my spare time(!), I believe gives me a unique ability and skill-set to be able to communicate and connect with anyone, from any background, seeking to create life-long results with their body.

While having a practical and scientific understanding of what’s required to transform physically, I also understand that for many people, the process of physical change is as much an emotional and psychological journey, as it is a physical one.

CrossFit for me is giving it your all and pushing yourself to your own limits and capabilities. You will discover that you are capable of things you thought were unachievable and find along the way changes to your body and mind that dramatically improve your fitness level and life.

I had been overweight for most of my life.  From when I was young other kids would pick on me because I was the fat kid. I was never popular at school. I always got picked last for team sports if I got picked at all. Growing up, I always felt out of place.   I once had ballooned out to 130kg.

I made a decision to change my life and be able to change the life of others – this is now  my focus and obsession!

I started training and competing in kickboxing and Muay Thai as well as training and coaching amateur and professional fighters.

I have worked in bigger chain gyms as well as my own garage studio. I have studied everything I could to help me develop my abilities to train and coach others and I haven’t looked back since.

In 2011 I found CrossFit Sandringham while surfing the Net, from the first workout I was blown away, amazed how such a short workout could achieve so much.

Born and raised in a small farming community in Nova Scotia Canada, I have been involved in sports of a wide, varying nature from a young age. Everything from main stream sports such as baseball, tennis, ice hockey, downhill skiing (including serving as a professional ski patrol), mountain biking and rugby to lesser known sports such as power lifting, white water rafting, tug of war, wood chopping and rodeo have kept me active throughout my travels around the globe.

In 2011 I decided to put CrossFit and myself to the test, committing to an 11.2km open water swim. What made this a real challenge was the fact that I had never learnt how to swim which meant I not only had to complete significant endurance training, I had to begin by learning to swim. Despite my coach telling me I swam like a car, the mental toughness and physical preparedness gained from CrossFit helped me achieve this goal within my 12 month deadline.

Since first being introduced to CrossFit in 2007, I have contributed in various ways to not only the local community (affiliate openings, Australian CrossFit Qualifiers judge, etc) but also to many international affiliates throughout my travels. In opening CrossFit Sandringham, I intend to bring the world of CrossFit to a whole new group of people and build a strong, supportive community built on core values similar to my own. Respect, Integrity, Fairness and Support are values that will become very apparent (and contagious) as soon as you enter the doors of this developing community and are sure to be the foundations of a fantastic group of people that will help each other realise their goals.

I thoroughly enjoy enabling people to achieve their goals.
